More than $2.2-million of provincial funding will help reduce hospital wait times in Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Ford Government is setting aside more than $2.2-million in order to reduce hospital wait times in Oxford County.
Over $1.8-million will be going to the Woodstock Hospital, while Tillsonburg District Memorial will receive $260,000 and Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll will get a cheque for $150,000.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says the money will definitely come in handy.
"When it comes to an emergency medical situation, we want to be sure hospitals have the resources to provide a patient with the care they need quickly."
Deputy Premier and Health Minister Sylvia Jones says this is all included in a $44-million investment that will help 165 high-volume and smaller emergency departments across the province this year.
"When someone experiences a medical emergency, it is vital that they get the urgent attention they need quickly. By offering more funding for hospitals that show the greatest success in reducing wait times in their emergency departments, we are providing more support for them to deliver faster emergency care to the communities they serve."
The Ford Government says each hospital will be able to decide how they spend the funding in order to reduce wait times.
