Oxford Public Health is making it easy for companies to promote workplace wellness. The organization has launched the Health at Work web portal for companies and their employees where they can find workplace wellness information in one easy to navigate location. Oxford Public Health Nurse Iva MacCausland says more information is planned for the site but at this time, employers can find links under six categories. "Smoking cessation/tobacco use, a category under that; substance misuse, another category. Another one was just healthy living which includes nutrition and physical activity. Injury and violence prevention is another area. Mental health wellbeing and healthy family". The web portal stems from a Health at Work 4 All initiative developed by the Middlesex London Health unit and Elgin St Thomas public health. MacCausland says almost two thirds of Canadians are in the work force and 60 percent of our waking hours at spent at work. She says the web portal is meant as a tool to prevent illness so residents can be healthy and productive citizens and workers. You can find the new website at www.oxfordcounty.ca/healthatwork.
