The Norwich Optimist Tractor Pull takes over the Rettie Farm this weekend
NORWICH -- The engines will be firing up in Norwich this weekend.
The annual Norwich Optimist Tractor Pull kicks off Friday evening at the Rettie Farm on the corner of Hwy 59 south and Evergreen Road (2 km north of Norwich).
The two day event is family-friendly with food vendors, beverage tent, kid's fun area, live entertainment and of course, the crowd favourite tractor pulls.
Committee Member, Laura Barker highlights what the funds raised at the event are used for. "All of the proceeds from our event, it's completely a volunteer event with sponsors and all of our proceeds go back into our community to fund youth activities in our community, so different projects, activities, donations -- everything to do with youth. That's what our Optimist are all about."
Friday night includes live entertainment with Canadian country sensation Leah Daniels and opening act Evermile.
Barker says "some of the pullers compete for money. We have some competitive pulls and some of them are just pulling for glory of winning against their neighbours."
Friday night, Heart FM's Dan Henry and Special Events reporter "Cruiser" Cody Hayward will face off against a Heart FM listener in the Celebrity Pull.
"It's a fabulous event for families, the kids -- you can just see their eyes glowing when they watch it, they really have a good time. Lots of noise, lots of laughter, lots of cheering -- just a terrific day."
There a day passes or weekend passed available at the gate. All of the information for the event can be found here.
