OPP in Oxford and Middlesex were focused on railway bridges last week for a 2 day safety blitz.
OXFORD COUNTY - The OPP detachments in Oxford and Middlesex teamed up with the MTO and CN Police for a two day safety blitz.
The blitz happened last week during National Rail Safety Blitz. The focus was on railway bridges and suspected MTO weigh scale by-pass routes.
Over the course of two days officers conducted 55 traffic stops. Those stops resulted in 28 vehicle inspections and 3 vehicles were taken out of service for safety violations.
Officers also handed out 13 tickets for normal traffic offences during the blitz.
Police report that in one traffic stop, two separate Commercial vehicles were stopped as they were approaching the rail bridge on 17th Line, near Road 58 in Zorra Township. Both of these vehicles were greater in height than the bridge height, and would have surely collided with the rail bridge.
