Marcus Ryan is looking forward to his new promotion serving as Mayor of Zorra Township.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - The Mayor-Elect of Zorra Township is preparing himself for the next four years.
Township Councillor Marcus Ryan won the race for the mayor's seat on Election Day.
Now he's ready to get to work.
"I really feel a huge sense of responsibility to get to work with not only Zorra's new council, but also Oxford County's new council and our neighbouring councils in Perth, Middlesex and around the province on our common issues."
Ryan is planning on addressing a lot of hot topics throughout the next term; including the road conditions.
"I think that once upon a time our roads were okay for the kind of agricultural and residential traffic that we had. But agricultural equipment is bigger and heavier than it was, we have a lot more gravel truck traffic than there was and that needs to be improved. We need to work with the province to get the royalties up for gravel tonnage to help us pay for that."
Ryan would also like to address road safety throughout some of the villages in the township.
As we head into budget season, he would like to keep the tax pressure to a minimum.
