Over 28,000 pounds of food was collected during the Realtors Care Food Drive this year.
WOODSTOCK - The Realtors Care food drive was an overwhelming success this year.
The annual fundraiser by the Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board collected over 28,000 pounds of food this year.
Over 115 volunteers plus their families collected food on May 1st in Woodstock, Ingersoll and Sweaburg. All of the food that was collected will go to food banks in those communities. WIDREB 2019 President, Neil Krushel says it was amazing to see so many realtors and their families giving back to the community.
“I am very proud of our members and the support they give to this amazing event, which continues to be a great success every year. We want our communities to know that your local REALTORS® are not just real estate representatives, but friends and neighbours who care about our communities. I would also like to take the time to personally thank our REALTORS® Care Committee for all their hard work and dedication that they put towards creating such a successful and well received event every year.”
Current estimates in the amount of food received from scheduled collection are 3,500 pounds of food in Ingersoll and 25,000 pounds of food in Woodstock, totalling 28,500 pounds of food collected. Krushel says they would like to take the time to thank all of the volunteers who helped make this event great, without your help and dedication we would never reach the level of success that was accomplished.
“The generosity from our communities is amazing and it is expected that the food raised will help keep our local food bank's shelves stocked up for many months to come. It has been 9 years since the inception of the REALTORS® Care Food Drive and it is estimated that over of 166,000 pounds of food has been collected at this event for our local food banks.”
The Woodstock-Ingersoll & District Real Estate Board would like to take the time to thank all of the volunteers who helped make this event great, without your help and dedication we would never reach the level of success that was accomplished.
In addition, special thanks go out to our sponsors, Home Hardware Building Centre in Woodstock and Foodland in Ingersoll who donate d countless bags for this event.
If you placed a bag out that was not picked up or you still want to contribute, please contact the Woodstock-Ingersoll & District Real Estate Board at 519-539-3616 or take your donation directly to your local Salvation Army.
