Volunteers with the Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board will be collecting food donations for the 10th annual Realtors Care Food Drive this Wednesday.
WOODSTOCK/INGERSOLL - The Realtors Care Food Drive is back for another year.
The Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board will be collecting donations for the local Salvation Army food banks this week. Local realtor Cassandra Benard explains how the food drive works.
"We have volunteers staple some flyers to shopping bags indicating what the food banks are looking for and what the food drive is for. With 110 volunteers across Oxford County, we go door-to-door and leave them on people's porches and tie them to their door knobs and we pick them up a week later."
They started dropping off the shopping bags in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Beachville, Sweaburg, Innerkip and Embro last week and they'll be back to pick up food donations this Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Benard says the food drive has been a huge success over the years.
"In the last 10 years we've raised about 166,000 pounds of food. Back in 2019 when we were last able to do it, we collected 25,000 pounds in Woodstock and 3,500 pounds in Ingersoll. We're always looking to improve on that every year."
