Registration is open for the Woodstock Triathlon Club's 5th annual KidS Du event at Southside Park this June.
WOODSTOCK - Registration is open for the Woodstock Triathlon Club's 5th annual KidS Du event at Southside Park.
DidS Du is a non-competitive run-bike-run event for kids between the ages of 3 and 13 with the key focus on having fun. The event is happening on June 14th and online registration is open now until June 10th, with Early Bird Pricing until April 18th.
The course is sanctioned by Triathlon Ontario and the kids will need to bring their own running shoes, a good helmet and a bike in working order. Bikes can be two or three wheels, trainers and balance bikes are permitted. One parent of kids 3 to 5 years must run alongside their children during the event.
Race Director Dave Jenkins says it's going to be a really fun day.
“We've created a kids-only event where there is no pressure to win. It’s all about being active, being outside, participating in multisport activities and having lots of fun while doing it. We've had kids as young as two participating as long as they turn three within the current year. I hope that more families will take advantage of this great outdoor activity to keep kids moving!”
11 year old Jaxon Manning has already registered for the event because it keeps getting bigger each year and more of his friends are there.
“It’s a lot fun with friends competing together. You get a race kit full of good things and a medal at the end of the race no matter how you did.”
KidS Du has grown and the club is working towards making this, their 5th year, even better. Major sponsors such as Lions Club, MW&Co Wealth Management, TMMC, Giant Tiger, Craven Dentistry, Parkridge Machining, Heart FM, Arnel Optometry and Gaylea continue to help support the event each year. KidS Du is grateful to them as well as the many other sponsors on board. This year, the club welcomes LaFarge who is joining the fun as a major sponsor.
And in keeping with their community spirit, KidS Du will be supporting Operation Sharing – Coats for Kids. In the past two years, KidS Du has donated $2700 worth of new winter boots to Operation Sharing’s efforts to keep kids warm throughout the winter.
The event is happening on June 14th at Southside Park. You can find more information on how to register online here.
