Relay for Life Ingersoll was another smashing success.
INGERSOLL - Over $28,000 was raised at the Relay for Life in Ingersoll.
It was a full house at the IDCI track on Friday night for the event. Community Fundraising Specialist Liz Wismer-Van Meer tells Heart FM what they do with the money raised.
"It goes to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society in our work towards the eradication of cancer and also enhancing the quality of life for people that are living with cancer. So we continue to support vital research that is taking place across Canada."
Van Meer says the relay can get emotional at times, especially during the Survivors lap which featured some young children this year.
"In Ingersoll we actually have a handful of survivors that walk it, that are survivors and to see to these young kids coming back each and they are wearing those yellow survivor shirts and those emotions just kind of take over you because you see those kids who are as young as three that are walking."
All of the money raised goes towards the local cancer society and so far all three events in Oxford appear to have raised over $250,000.
