Norfolk OPP want people to be extra cautious when responding to online ads after someone fell victim to a rental scam in Delhi.
DELHI - Norfolk OPP are warning the public after someone fell victim to a rental scam in Delhi.
A concerned resident contacted OPP Tuesday afternoon.
Officers say the victim had responded to an online ad for a rental property in Delhi sometime between September 1st and 5th. After speaking with the ad creator, the victim had forwarded them $1,400 through etransfer as a down payment but didn't receive a of rental contract in return.
Police want people to extra vigilant when responding to online ads.
Whether you're planning to rent or buy you should always check the place out in person before committing and meet with the landlord face to face. Also remember, if the online ad looks too good to be true it probably is.
