A local elementary teacher is not only preparing for retirement, she's also training for the MS Bike Tour in July. Leigh Petitt, Principal of Emily Stowe Public School in Norwich is participating in the MS Bike Tour in honour of her son Troy. "My youngest son was diagnosed with MS about two-and-a-half years ago. I had done the walks before but I like to bike ride and I decided that this would be kind of fun and challenging". Petitt will ride with the group from Grand Bend to London July 27th and the next day, turn around to ride back to Grand Bend. To show their support and appreciation for her work at the school, the staff, students and community of Emily Stowe made a generous donation towards her fundraising efforts. "Well there have been fundraisers throughout the year that Student Council has put into their account, I guess it was about a week and a half ago they had what they called a "Toonie Tuesday" and if you wore your hat to school, you paid two dollars and that went towards my MS Ride. In total including the fundraisers that they had done before, they gave me a cheque for $1000". Pettit is retiring this month after 40-years of teaching.
