Woodstock City Council held a special meeting to discuss to 2024 Revenue Budget last night, and another meeting is scheduled for tomorrow evening.
WOODSTOCK - Revenue budget talks are underway in the City of Woodstock.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says City Council held a special meeting last night to take a look at what's being proposed for 2024.
"It was a 3.5-hour meeting, and almost an hour and a half of it was just Parks and Rec. We've got 40 acres plus coming on to Southside Park so with that alone, you have to think about all of that work moving forward. So there are a couple of asks for employees."
The new parklands are located between Parkinson Road and Juliana Drive.
In terms of City staff, Administrative Services is looking to add one new employee for the first time in more than 30 years. The Fire Department would also like to hire four new fire suppression officers so they can have 10 per shift.
You can find a video of last night's meeting on the City of Woodstock YouTube page, and find the agenda from the meeting online here.
Another budget meeting will be taking place tomorrow night, and Mayor Acchione says you won't want to miss it.
"The big one I think is going to be Transit. There is discussion going on about what kind of hours we should have. Should we add more hours to transit, should we be adding Sunday services for example."
Tomorrow's meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and members of the public are welcome to attend. It will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube page, and you can find the agenda online here.
The proposed revenue budget for 2024 will be brought back to City Council during its regular meeting on March 21st for further discussion and possible approval.
