TILLSONBURG - A memorial bench was dedicated last week on Lake Lisgar in Tillsonburg.
The bench recognizes victims and survivors of crime and the unwavering commitment of our community and partners that support the journey to reconciliation.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting happened last week and it was hosted by the Victim Assistance Services of Oxford County with generous support from the Department of Justice Canada. Honoured guests in attendance included Mayor Molnar of Tillsonburg, Inspector Hymers and Constable Cote of the Oxford County OPP, Larry Scanlan of the Police Services Board and Larry Peters from the VASoc Board of Directors.
The event provided an opportunity for those in attendance to express words of support to individuals impacted by crime and to commend local agencies for their dedication to Oxford County residents.
The Executive Director of VASoc, Jeremy Gofton concluded the ceremony by saying "let us all celebrate courage and renew our commitment to survivors of crime."
