WOODSTOCK - 129 cyclists took to the streets of Woodstock for the 3rd annual Ride Don't Hide event for the CMHA Oxford.
This years event raised over $25,000 to help support local programs run by CMHA Oxford. Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator Kathleen Campbell-Conlon it was another great day for CMHA Oxford.
"Here in Oxford it was our 3rd annual and we are always using the funds that have been raised towards our community programs like our walk in counselling and other programs that are not already funded for us. We use this to make sure all of our services are free for the community. It's a really great day to have all of these riders heading out wearing these Ride Don't Hide shirts and then they are going to wear them again and they are going to go out into the community and by wearing this shirt, it says I support mental health and I am working to end the stigma."
Cyclists had a choice between an 8 km route, a 15 km route, a 50 km route, and a 100 km loup around Woodstock. Cambell-Conlon says they had less riders this year but managed to raise more money.
"We actually had less riders this year than we had last year, so it's pretty amazing when you consider the Paton family brought in over $14,000 by themselves, it was just fantastic."
