Another Woodstock murder trial was in the courts on Tuesday. The lawyer for John Douglas Robinson is trying to fight a "direct indictment", sending him directly to trial. Robinson is charged with 1st degree murder and indignity to a body in the death of Clifford Fair in 2008. Fair's remains were dug up by police back in November of 2008, in the backyard of a home on Princess St. where Robinson lived with his girlfriend Amy Cassidy-Gilbert. She pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder, and has already served out her sentence. Robinson's charges were overturned by Justice Marietta Roberts in May 2010, but later re-instated by the Attorney General of Ontario. Robinson's Lawyer, Anik Morrow, said Tuesday she planning on trying to have the direct indictment quashed. Robinson's trial is scheduled to begin in May with jury selection slated for late-April.
