The former City Councillor is looking to get back behind the council desk
WOODSTOCK - The prosperity of Woodstock and all of it's residents is just one reason Ross Gerrie is looking to return to Woodstock City Council.
The President of CAW Local 636 filed his papers earlier this week for a council position.
Gerrie says his previous council experience coupled with the large number of people he interacts with on a daily basis make him a good fit for the position.
"Over the past 30 years I have got on a lot of boards. When I got defeated last time I went to the Coop Housing Board for Kent and Canterbury and also Victims Assistance, I sit on that board cause there was kind of a void so I would certainly like to get back representing the people of Woodstock."
Gerrie says the Woodall Farm Development and transparency are among the main issues facing the City.
"I think there's a lot more issues out there that need to be flushed out like affordable housing for seniors and low income earners, support for the small business and local manufacturers would be on the top of the list too. Get more manufacturers on the target or on the bubble that Woodstock is a good place to move your location."
"I think councillors should be held accountable for the meetings that they are supposed to attend during their term of council and I think there should be a report card on the councillor every year on whether they have attended meetings, not attending meetings that they were supposed to and exactly what they have attended and how many times they have attended it."
Gerrie spent four years on council before being defeated in the 2010 election.
