Members of the Woodstock Police Service want students to have a safe and fun summer.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are reminding everyone to stay safe this summer.
School is out for the little ones and police are reminding motorists to pay extra attention in residential areas and around parks and play areas. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM you also need to watch out for kids on the road.
"So they are going to go biking, skate boarding, rollerblading, all of those things so we need to be much more alert and that ties in with our distracted driving campaign, we want people to be paying attention to the roadways this summer and watching for children."
She adds if the kids plan on riding their bike, it is also important for them to know the rules of the road and always where a helmet.
"Parents have to have those conversations about the helmets and if they are role models to their children it will make it a lot easier for them to put their helmets on. Parents really need to take the time to be diligent to make sure they are wearing the helmets and make sure they are wearing them properly."
