Norwich Fire Services will be holding a senior Safety Expo at the Community Centre today.
NORWICH - A Senior Safety Expo will be taking place at the Norwich Community Centre today.
The free event will include presentations from the Norwich Fire Service, Oxford OPP and Oxford Paramedic Services.
Derek VanPagee, the Lead Public Safety Educator with the Norwich Fire Service, says they will cover a variety of topics.
"We are looking at general safety for seniors, anything that involves mobility and it's a main topic for us, as well as being home by themselves."
They will also touch base on medical safety and fraud.
VanPagee says we don't reach out to our seniors enough.
"They are a part of our community as well so we want to make sure we reach out to everyone in our community. Specifically the seniors this time and see if we can cover some emergency preparedness for them."
Today's event will also include a free lunch and prizes. Things will get started at 11 a.m. and wrap up at 1 p.m.
