Big Lix has been awarded the Golden Ladle for their Fowl and Fungus Soup at Soupstock 2016.
WOODSTOCK - Big Lix has been crowned the winner of Soupstock 2016 for their Fowl and Fungus Soup.
The event at the Quality Hotel and Suites also featured 12 other vendors, with soups ranging from a dill pickle soup to a pizza soup. For the first time ever there was also a tie for the People's Choice Award; the Wild Mushroom Bisque from Finkle Street Tap and Grill and the Squash and Apple Soup from Local Roots Catering at Southgate Centre were both very popular choices.
This was the sixth year of Soupstock and all of the proceeds have been going to Domestic Abuse Services Oxford (DASO).
Executive Director Rhona Hendel says the money has really helped their community based programming.
"These are women that do not come through shelter. They take our counselling programs, sexual assault counselling. They use of transitional support which helps women move from one place to another; so someone will move right from where they are living, which is an abusive situation, to their own place and we help them do that."
Last year over 1,000 women in Oxford took advantage of DASO's community based programming.
