The speed limit in front of Emily Stowe Public School will be reduced to keep kids safe.
NORWICH - Oxford County Council has approved a request from Public Works to change the speed limit in front of Emily Stowe Public School in the Village of Norwich.
The school zone on Highway 59 will change from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr when the students are present. Director of Public Works Robert Walton tells Heart FM the issue was brought up during a public meeting about the Stover Street Reconstruction.
"It was a topic that was brought up and we promised that we would look into it and report back. Through that analysis in looking into what we have done in other areas and the analysis of where we have this school on a county road the decision was made to make this change here."
Walton says they will be installing some new electric signage and they are just waiting for some parts to arrive before the changes take effect.
