The Health Unit also confirmed 28 recoveries today. Many of the new cases were from Tillsonburg with several recoveries in Woodstock. The Health Unit is also reporting another COVID-19 related death.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health confirmed 15 new cases of the virus this morning and 28 recoveries.
Southwestern Public Health also confirmed the 10th COVID-19 related death from our region this morning.
We currently have 128 active cases with most of them in Norwich Township, Aylmer and St. Thomas. Several of the new cases reported today were in Tillsonburg. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:

To date we have had 13 institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes. We currently have 4 active outbreaks in the region is at the Maple Manor Nursing Home, the Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg, Terrace Lodge in Aylmer and Bethany Long Term Care Home in Norwich Township. In all four outbreaks, a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. We currently have 3 people in the hospital with the virus including 2 in the ICU.
The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic.
