The Southwestern Public Health Unit has administered over 2,500 COVID-19 vaccines since January.
OXFORD COUNTY - Southwestern Public Health is asking people to be patient as they prepare for the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Elgin, Oxford, and the City of St. Thomas.
Vaccine supply continues to be limited in Ontario. Since January the local Health Unit has administered over 2,500 vaccines. 14 Long Term Care homes in the region have had their shots, along with 8 high risk retirement homes.
Right now they are vaccinating essential caregivers, eligible health care workers in specific settings and retirement home residents.
The are also working with regional health units to prepare vaccinations for our local Indigenous communities. Plans are in place to start booking appointments for seniors over 80 for phase 2 which will start on March 22nd.
