Due to the wildfires, Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - Environment Canada has issued an air quality statement for Oxford County.
Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. Wildfire smoke is expected over the area tonight into tomorrow morning.
As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. It is best to limit time outdoors, consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events. While you're indoors, it's also important to make sure your windows are closed unless we're experiencing a significant heat event that requires the windows to be open.
Smoke in the are can cause not only irritation to the eyes, nose and throat, but also headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains and severe cough.
