A major thunderstorm is expected to move in from Michigan later this afternoon, potentially touching down in Oxford County early this evening.
UPDATE: Environment Canada has upgraded the special weather statement to a severe thunderstorm watch for Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the region.
They are warning of potential thunderstorms late this afternoon and early this evening. The storm is moving into Southwestern Ontario from Michigan and will reach Windsor and Lake Huron late in the afternoon and then hit the remaining regions early this evening.
There will be potential for wind gusts of 90 km/h with some of these storms. Torrential downpours and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning may also be associated.
Severe thunderstorm will likely be issued for some areas as the system moves closer.
