Lifeguards at the St. Marys Quarry came to the rescue after a head on collision on Water Street South that nearly sent a RAV 4 into the Quarry.
ST. MARYS - Lifeguards at the St. Marys Quarry stepped up to help two people after a head on collision on Water Street South.
The crash happened last Wednesday morning around 10:30 when a Toyota RAV 4 crossed over the centre line and collided head on with a Suburu. The impact of the crash caused the RAV 4 to roll over onto its roof and created a small vehicle fire. The RAV4 hit the guard rail on the side of the road, almost falling into the quarry.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, preventing serious injuries. Lifeguards on duty rushed to the scene to provide first aid and help the drivers from the vehicles. The driver of the RAV 4 was charged with careless driving.
The Stratford Police would like to recognize the quick action taken by the Lifeguards working that day and thank them for providing excellent service to the involved drivers, as well as to the entire community of St Marys.
