Locals are being invited to a seminar that teaches teens how to prevent violence against women. Speaker Daniel Vecchio's sister was killed by her husband back in 2004 and since then, Vecchio has been talking to groups of students in both elementary and secondary schools about healthy relationships, recognizing unhealthy relationships and how boys and men need to shed those aspects of masculinity that promote the use of violence, power and control over others. The seminar is being put on by Survivors Voices Oxford and the Woodstock Youth Advisory Council tonight (Thursday) starting at 7:00 pm at the Woodstock CAW Hall located at 126 Beale Street. It is a free event and is meant for anyone in grade 6 or up.
