Stratford police arrested a man on a number of domestic-related charges due to an outstanding warrant. Additionally, he was charged on multiple weapons-related offences and he is expected to attend a bail hearing today.
STRATFORD - Police received a call on the whereabouts of a man wanted for a number of domestic violence related offences.
They were notified last night shortly after 9:00 p.m. when officers arrived at a home in the east end of the city and found the man who was hiding within the shed in the backyard.
He was arrested for the offences related to the outstanding warrant, however, after searching the area police discovered a loaded hand gun, ammunition for the hand gun and a bow with several arrows. He was then arrested for a number of weapons related offences and was transported to Stratford Police Headquarters where he was held in custody and is expected to attend a bail hearing today.
As a result, the man was initially charged with uttering threats to cause death, three counts of assault, two counts of mischief of under $5,000, and two counts of breaching his probation order. A warrant for those offences was issued on August 8th.
He was also charged with twelve different weapons related offences including unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm – storage, possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of loaded firearm, three different charges for possession contrary to order; one each for the hand gun, the ammunition, and the bow and arrow, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, and three different counts of breach of
probation.
To help protect the identity of the victim in the original incidents, the accused will only be identified as a 27-year-old resident of Stratford.
