Parents and students are scrambling after hundreds of dollars in donated goods have been stolen. Central Public School was broken into over the weekend, and items to be sold at this Saturday's Family Fun Day are all missing. Everything from a couple of I-Pods, down to chocolate bars were stolen. Parent Council Member Madeline Huether says it's really disheartening. "I can't believe it. My son and I had been collecting donations since June, and our event is this Saturday. So of course, we had the majority of our donations in. To be hit with this is just devastating." Huether valued the stolen goods at around $500, but says the Fun Day and penny sale can generate up to $3000. The Family Fun day is the only annual fundraiser at Central, and helps to pay for school trips, a Christmas dinner for the students, and extra classroom upgrades, like Smart Boards. Huether will be scrambling between now and Saturday for donations, and is holding out hope whoever stole their goods will have a change of heart. "I'm hoping that the person that did this will have a moment where they say 'You know what, I did the wrong thing, and now I need to do the right thing' and just please return the items. It would mean a lot to our students and our school." Anyone who would like to make a contribution to the Central School Fun Fair can contact Huether at maddie.huether@shillingtonlaw.ca. The Fun Fair runs from 9-3 on Saturday at Central Public School.
