WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are searching for a middle aged man who offered a teenager a ride home on Friday afternoon.
Police say the young girl, was frightened, repeatedly said no and started to walk faster. The man eventually gave up and took off at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was described as a silver 4-door car. The driver was described as a white male, approximately 35-40 years old, with red hair and a beard.
Woodstock Police offer the following tips to keep you as safe as possible when walking home:
- Walk in groups or pairs whenever possible;
- If you have a cellphone, keep it in a place that is easily accessible, such as a pocket rather than buried in a backpack;
- Stick to areas with high visibility and avoid walking through isolated shortcuts such as paths and alleyways;
- Notify someone you trust that you will be walking alone, where you are going, where you are coming from, what route you plan to take and how long you believe your walk will take. Be sure to update that person when you have arrived to your destination.
