Tax reductions have been scheduled for those affected by the taxes levied in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
WOODSTOCK- Woodstock City Council is finalizing the reduction, cancelation and refund of taxes that were levied in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Director of Administrative Services Patrice Hilderley explains why these changes are being made.
"This time there was property that the city bought from other owners and as soon as we buy the property it becomes exempt, so those taxes are reduced sometime you can't occupy the building or there is a fire so people are entitled to a reduction on their taxes."
This tax relief should not have an effect on taxpayers as Hilderley explains.
"Actually it won't affect them at all that we have a reserve that we pay the taxes that we are writing off."
The money collected money in the reserve will be saved for future use.
