Volunteers from Operation Sharing will be collecting taxable items outside the Food Basics in Woodstock today.
WOODSTOCK - Another taxable item drive for Operation Sharing is happening today, Friday December 4th at the Food Basics in Woodstock.
The shelves are bare at Operation Sharing and they are in desperate need for taxable items to help their clients through the Food for Friends program. The way Food for Friends works is they give out cards to be used at local grocery stores, where clients can do their own grocery shopping. The cards only work for food items that do not carry a tax, such as meat, grains and produce. Operation Sharing always likes to have other essential items on hand to give out to clients.
Taxable items include paper towel, toilet paper, cleaning products, deodorant, feminine hygiene products and anything else that is taxed at the grocery store.
The taxable item drive is happening all day today starting at 8:30 am until 6 pm at the Food Basics on Dundas Street. It is sponsored by Brock and Visser Funeral Home.
