Ella Shelton will bring a gold medal back to Ingersoll after Team Canada celebrated a 3-2 overtime win over the United States last night.
CALGARY - For the first time in almost a decade, Canada has won the IIHF Women's World Hockey Championship.
We celebrated a 3-2 win over the United States last night, after Marie-Philip Poulin scored the game winning goal in overtime.
Ingersoll's very own Ella Shelton hit the ice for every game and she ended the tournament with 3 points; one goal and two assists. The 23-year-old had to spend two minutes in the penalty box at the start of the third period last night for tripping.
Team Canada last won the championship in 2012. The U.S. has won the last five world titles and eight of the previous nine.
