Cars will roll into the TA Truck Stop for the Children's Aid Society's Cops and Rodders on May 6th.
WOODSTOCK - The Cops and Rodders fundraiser is back in the Friendly City.
The Children's Aid Society of Oxford County has been hosting the event for the past two years.
Coordinator of Development Ron Archer says it's a fun time with prizes and a big turnout.
"There's lots of great prizes. For everyone that brings their car out gets a half price buffet, so we get a lot of people that come early, park their car and go in and have supper and then come out. We have a great 50/50 and like I say lots of good prizes and we usually get around 75 cars, so it's a good cruise and it goes every Monday depending on the weather."
The fundraiser originated from former Woodstock Police Chief Dave MacKenzie and few of his friends. For the past two years, the CAS has been hosting the event.
Proceeds will go towards the CAS' endowment fund, helping children go on to post-secondary education or attend the kids camp.
Archer says it's a great event to give back to kids in the community.
"It's special because doing Santa Ron, all the money that I raise goes to Children's Aid and goes to our endowment so it's really dear to my heart. It's just great to help out all these kids and to see them get a bursary to go on to better themselves, it's just great, just great. And then the camp is just quite an experience to go away for a whole week, it gives parents a break and the children get a trip that they may not have had."
Cops and Rodders will be at the TA Truck Stop. The fundraiser will go every Monday night from 5:00pm to 8:00pm until September 2nd.
