After almost two years of construction headaches, the Woodstock Police station is open for business.
WOODSTOCK - Members of the public had the opportunity to tour the Woodstock Police headquarters over the weekend.
The station had been under construction for almost two years; as crews built a new 12,000 square foot extension and renovated other areas.
Chief Bill Renton says is very impressed with the end result.
"It allowed us to bring our entire service under one roof; so we brought our criminal investigation and intelligence units back together as one. We've updated our dispatch centre because we are a primary 911 call centre and we've done a significant renovation on the existing part with our cell blocks and those sorts of areas."
Although the construction lasted a bit longer than expected, Renton says they didn't go too far over their budget.
"I think the budget was $4.8 million and I think we're right around that money. The exact dollar figure I'm not sure but its right around what they budgeted for so around $4.8 million to $5 million."
Renton says they received a great response from the community during Saturday's open house.
