The Shelton Family is Smiling From Ear to Ear Today After Canada Wins Gold

The Shelton Family was able to celebrate together this morning after watching their daughter Ella and Team Canada bring home the gold medal.

The Shelton family is all smiles today after Canada won gold in women's hockey at the 2022 Beijing OIympics.

That is because Foldens Ella Shelton was a member of the team. She was the 7th defenceman for Canada at the tournament logging 3 assists and finishing as a plus 8. Ella is one of the younger players on the team and will no doubt be relied upon more in future events.

Canada won the game 3-2 with Captain Canada Marie Philippe Poulin playing the hero once again, scoring two goals, including the game winner.

The Shelton's were watching the game at their farm in Foldens. Warren and Cathy Shelton called into Heart FM this morning and we got to celebrate a little bit with them.

Cathy says Ella is expected to return home next week and she will no doubt be ready to show off her brand new gold medal.

"She is going to wearing that gold medal, I think she will be sleeping with it for awhile and she is happy to share it with anybody and everybody. She is very grateful and thankful about everybody who has been cheering for her and throwing out those positive vibes for her. It is hard to understand how much that has helped them, when they are a world away."

Warren chimed in at the end saying she especially wants to share it with us at Heart FM and we can't wait for that moment.

Warren admits it was nerve racking watching the game last night.

"I might have lost a nail yesterday biting it off but everybody was excited and pumped, it was great watching it. The only thing I would say it just sucked watching it on TV, we would have rather watched it live but other than that it was exciting and everyone was eager for the game to start."

Cathy says she never gets tired of seeing her daughters beautiful smile and it was bigger and brighter than ever this morning.

"We are just so excessively proud of her, the journey to get to where she is at and just being there, being happy, supporting her teammates and doing everything that was asked of her to help her team be successful."
