Two buses headed down to see the Toronto Raptors take on the Cleveland Cavaliers
Tillsonburg residents are ready to invade the Toronto Raptors.
The Tillsonburg Chamber of Commerce has organized Tillsonburg Day at the Raptors which is slated to go Friday, February 21 at the Air Canada Centre where the Raps will take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Event Chair Michael Bossy says there will be a Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame induction that day with a local twist.
"Bill Coulthard was a long time resident so Tillsonburg, a bit of a long story, it ties back to when Jerry Livingston, one of the entrepreneurs in our town really liked basketball and decided to put a senior men's basketball team together. He had players on that team that eventually formed the 1952 and 1960 Olympic teams and represented Canada and one of those players was Bill Coulthard."
"It's a chance for use to showcase our small town to the bigger cities and you know the Tillsonburg Livvies and Bill Coulthard and all his teammates made huge contributions to our community so it's a way to pay respect and celebrate something that's been really, really good for the community."
Tickets for the event are $100 each which includes a lower bowl ticket as well as coach bus transportation to and from the event.
Those interested need to be at the Tillsonburg Canadian Tire Store by 3:30 Friday afternoon.
To purchase tickets call Suzanne Renken at 519-688-3737 or suzanne@tillsonburgchamber.ca.
