Tillsonburg Council created a new bylaw that restricts residents from parking their recreational vehicles in areas considered unsafe. Staff addressed the safety and storage location of these vehicles after receiving complaints that some were preventing cars from safely reversing out of their driveways. Tillsonburg Mayor John Lessif says he was surprised by the amount of possible cases, "we have different neighbourhoods that have different lot sizes. When I heard a number of roughly 180-200 trailers, boats, RV's, whatever being parked in driveways or side lots or backyards in the community, well that's a substantial amount". But as Councilor Marty Klein says, there aren't many complaints, "there's only 2 or 3 percent result in complaints from the neighbourhoods, so we're talking about 5 or 6 complaints". Klein says he had concerns about the costs of storage some residents could face, but is confident the new bylaw is appropriate. The bylaw was passed with some added solutions, taking into consideration safety, while still ensuring extra costs for residents won't be a factor. Any concerns with the storage of recreational vehicles must be called into your municipality.
