Tillsonburg will be a happening place as the entire town celebrates Canada Day.
TILLSONBURG - If you're celebrating Canada Day in Tillsonburg, you could have a very full day ahead of you!
Things get started at 8am. with a pancake breakfast at Station Arts Centre featuring an Optimist Kid's Zone and a Farmers' Market.
A wreath laying ceremony and cake cutting will happen at the cenotaph at noon.
From there you can head over to Annandale National Historic Site for a fun fair full of sweet treats according to Patricia Phelps, Culture and Heritage Manager and Curator of Annandale National Historic Site.
"We have Canada Day birthday cake, snow cones, popcorn, candy floss, there's a jelly bean count where you actually get some jelly beans, there's games to play, quizzes to do - test your knowledge of Canada on this day - and you can go through Annandale National Historic Site."
The Historic Site is also open for tours.
"The museum is actually open from 10am until 4pm just to tour. On Canada's birthday its a good thing to visit a national historical site in your own neighbourhood. We were designated by the federal government for the interior decoration at Annandale House."
A free concert featuring Faded Denim - and more cake! - kicks off in Memorial Park at 7:30pm.
"After the concert’s over, fireworks are going off." Phelps says. "And you can sit and see and amazing fireworks show. Now, if Mother Nature doesn't cooperate and we have a little rain the fireworks will be held on Saturday along with the concert as well."
Phelps says this is all possible thanks to the Department of Canadian Heritage who offered up a grant.
