The Town of Tillsonburg has hired a new Town Clerk.
TILLSONBURG - The Town of Tillsonburg has hired a new Town Clerk.
Michelle Smibert will start at the Town on Wednesday February 19th. Smibert succeeds Donna Wilson who will retire on February 29th after working at the Town in some capacity since 1986.
Smibert is a past president of the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO), and has extensive experience with several area municipalities. She was previously Clerk at Thames Centre, Manager of Licensing and Elections at the City of London and Deputy Clerk at the City of Stratford. In 2010, Smibert became Chief Administrative Officer of Middlesex Centre, a role she held until 2018. She most recently served as Clerk for the Township of Mulmur.
Smibert has a Master of Public Administration from Western University and is a Certified Municipal Officer. Mayor Stephen Molnar says they are confident in this hire.
"The role of municipal clerk is extremely important in a municipality and I'm confident Michelle’s background and experience will serve Council and our community well.
New CAO for the Town Kyle Pratt agrees with Mayor Molnar assessment.
"Michelle’s experience in blended rural and urban municipalities, and her solid understanding of applicable legislation and regulations are a welcome addition to our leadership team."
