Bill Tucker served as the Director of Education for the TVDSB from 2008 to 2013.
TVDSB - An Interim Director of Education has been appointed for the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB).
This comes after it was announced yesterday that Mark Fisher was taking a leave of absence from the job.
The Board of Trustees has selected Bill Tucker to lead the board while Fisher is away. He is no stranger to the school board because he served as the Director of Education for Thames Valley from 2008 until his retirement in 2013.
Board Chair Beth Mai says they're happy to have him back
"Bill Tucker is a respected, knowledgeable and experienced leader in public education. His deep understanding of the TVDSB community will provide stability for the system and ensure that student achievement and well-being continue to be a key focus. We are thankful that he has agreed to lend his support and leadership to the TVDSB.”
During his time with the TVDSB, Tucker also served as a Superintendent in the areas of Special Education, School Operations and Human Resources. Looking at his career in education as a whole, Tucker has over 40 years of public education experience under his belt, working in the public school system as a lecturer at Western University.
Tucker is eager to get back to work.
"I look forward to once again working with the Board of Trustees and re-introducing myself to staff, students, families and community partners. My priority will be on supporting students, creating positive and inclusive learning and working environments, and advancing the Board’s new strategic plan to strengthen the unique potential of each student."
Out of the office, Tucker also serves as the Chair of the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation and an Executive Member on the Board at Community Living London. He has three children with his wife Mary Ann and eight grandchildren as well.
