WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Hospital had two babies born on New Year's Day.
One of the families welcomed a baby boy named Jad.
His mother Teeba Al Shaikhli says he was born after 2:00 am.
"We are very happy because we have our baby, he is the second baby we have. And I'm happy to have it happen in the beginning of the year."
Jad was born at 2:19 am. She adds she now has two boys with the father, Bassam Al Shammari.
"I am so happy my baby will be (in the new year). I am so happy to give birth in the new year and I hope it's a year full of happiness for everybody in Woodstock and in Canada."
Jad came into the world weighing 3,486 grams or 7 pounds and 6 ounces.
They are originally from Iraq and they have been in Woodstock for 14 months.
Teeba says they may be able to go home from the hospital tonight.
