The Kean rink from Woodstock is having a tough start at the Provincials, losing their first four games. Team Balsdon on the ladies side is in much better shape after splitting their first two games.
WOODSTOCK - Two curling rinks from Woodstock are competing at the Provincial Curling Championships this week on Cornwall.
Team Kean on the men's side features two local players. Skip Mark Kean and third Charlie Richard are both from Woodstock. They have not started out well, losing their first four games at the Ontario Tankard. There most recent loss came this morning to Team Hall after a back and forth match that they lost 10-7. They have another match today at 5 pm against Team Allen.
Team Kean we will need to win out for a chance to make the playoffs and even then they will need some help. The winner of the Ontario Championships will be able to represent the Province at the Brier this year.
On the ladies side, Team Balsdon is in much better shape. They currently have a 1-1 record and have two games on tap for today. Team Balsdon was formerly known as Team Tippin and they actually lost in the finals last your to Rachel Homan. The Balsdon rink features only one player actually from Woodstock, second Rachelle Strybosch. They have two matches today against Team Duncan at 12:15 pm and Team Inglis at 7:45 pm.
Team Balsdon started off the bonspiel with a 7-6 win over Team Harrison, however they did not fare as well in their second match, conceding to Team Murphy in a 9-2 loss.
