Grade 11 art students at IDCI have a chance to experience what it is like to be a professional artist.
INGERSOLL - IDCI's second semester Art Walk is underway and art is being featured in four small buisnesses around the town.
Part of the Grade 11 art course gave students a look into the business side of art and how to make their own statements. They looked into artists that inspire them and practiced their techniques.
Art Teacher, Danielle Gardner explains how the kids can benefit from the event.
"They get a taste of being a professional artist this way."
Gardner adds that each student has their own theme.
"One student's working with pet portraits. Another student who is adamant that she work with wonderful landscapes from her immagination and not from photo. I have a student working with cigarette ashes he's collected over time and hes drawing and paining with the ash, its quite unique."
Art is being show cased in 4 buisnesses throughout Ingersoll this week including The Wine Cellar, Grandpa's Attic, Patina's and the Ingersoll library until tomorrow.
IDCI's annual year end art show will also got underway yesterday. The show case is open for the public to come in and view till June 15th in the school library during school hours. It is also open today from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
