The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is opening day use, boat launches, and reservoirs to the public today at local Conservation Areas, including Pittock.
WOODSTOCK - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) is opening day use, boat launches, and reservoirs to the public as of June 1st at 8 am at Fanshawe Conservation Area (London), Pittock Conservation Area (Woodstock), and Wildwood Conservation Area (St. Marys).
UTRCA Conservation Areas Manager Jennifer Howley says they are excited to start the season.
"We are excited to begin offering boating this week and seasonal camping in the near future. We also continue to welcome people to our conservation areas for hiking, biking, walking, and enjoying nature."
Seasonal camping will open at Fanshawe and Pittock Conservation Areas on June 8th and at Wildwood Conservation Area on June 15th. Unfortunately, overnight (short term) camping is not opening at this time. Seasonal camping is when you reserve one campsite for the entire camping season from June to October.
At the present time, the UTRCA is not allowed to open washrooms to the public. Seasonal campers have their own washroom facilities in their trailers. However, day users will need to plan ahead and keep their visits short.
Entry fees apply as of June 1st.
Safety of Staff and Visitors is Paramount:
- Visitors may experience line-ups at gatehouses and boat launches, please be respectful.
- Staff will be practicing zero tolerance for rule breakers.
- Please arrive prepared to pay with Visa/Mastercard/Debit.
