Tillsonburg business owner looking for spot on council
TILLSONBURG - Wisdom and energy are just two traits Roderick Van Riesen is hoping to bring to Tillsonburg Council.
The 47 year old says he would bring a diverse amount of experience to the position.
"I have been a long time resident of Tillsonburg. My family moved here when I was 12 so I've seen the town grow over a number of years and work through a number of economic challenges. I am also a small business owner in Tillsonburg so I do have a strong business background in dealing with the dollars and cents and efficiencies and pragmatism that sometimes is a little bit lacking in government."
"I had been interested in running for a number of years and thought this was an opportune time in my life that I can have the time to be able to put aside to work on town council and provide my experience and input."
Van Riesen says he has been very supportive of local non-profits including the Salvation Army and Tillsonburg Food Bank.
Van Riesen is one of eight who are vying for five spots.
