Woodstonians will be walking around the CASS track to support Kids Help Phone
WOODSTOCK - The Walk So Kids Can Talk is coming to the Friendly City.
The annual fundraiser for Kids Help Phone has taken place in over 40 communities across Canada over the past 16 years, but this is its first year in Woodstock.
Those who attend will walk or run for 5 kilometres around the track at College Ave Secondary School on Sunday May 7th. There will also be activities for the kids and Boston Pizza will be providing a lunch. Event registration will begin at 9 a.m., the walk will kick off at 10 a.m. and things are expected to wrap up at around 11 a.m.
You can go to the Walk So Kids Can Talk website to register online. Sarah Lagrove, Manager of Corporate Development and Community Fundraising tells Heart FM you can also print your pledge sheets off the website.
"We do encourage people to get those donations before they come. Of course it's not mandatory to take part in the event but every dollar helps us keep those doors open."
Lagrove adds Kids Help Phone is a charity organization and they use fundraising dollars to keep their services running.
"By giving to Kids Help Phone you're insuring we're always open for kids in every moment of crisis or need. We are open 24/7 and we have professional counsellors at the other end of the line. Over 360 kids reach out to Kids Help Phone every day and since it started over 25 years ago we've helped kids over 7.1 million times."
The Woodstock Walk So Kids Can Talk is presented by BMO and Heart FM.
