Police have released a few tips, to help protect you from porch pirates this holiday season.
WOODSTOCK/OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County OPP are warning everyone to be wary of pirates over the holidays.
No for real, they are warning the public about porch pirates. Porch pirates are the grinches who like to steal your packages from the front porch. They will do this year round, however the crimes tend to spike over the holidays, as more and more people Christmas shop online. We have already had a few reported cases of porch pirates pillaging homes in Oxford County.
OPP are providing these simple tips to help protect you from porch pirates this holiday season:
- Don't leave packages on your porch over night.
- Try to have them delivered to a different address, at your office or place of business if it's allowed or arrange for in-store pickup.
- Ask a neighbour to collect them for your.
- Safeguard the exterior of your home with cameras.
- And always report suspicious activity to the police.
