Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life is planning a June wedding for two of their mini highland cows.
BRIGHT - The first ever cow wedding is set to happen right here in Oxford County!
Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life is happy to announce the engagement of Muriel, their micro-mini highland, and Rhett, their mini highland.
Owner Cheryl Haskett says Muriel has been their beloved princess, and they knew right away that she needed a friend, possibly even a boyfriend. That's when they introduced Rhett to the farm.
She says they were meant to be.
"When Muriel actually goes to a different pasture, because sometimes we move animals around, often times she would actually have to walk by Rhett. They would stop, have a little kiss and talk to each other along the way! We just thought this is going to be absolutely crazy or the most beautiful and wonderful thing ever!"
Haskett explains where the idea of having a cow wedding came from.
"We do experiences with our highlands and we often introduce the two of them as being mated in the future. Somebody mentioned that we should have a wedding for them and we just picked up on that idea. The staff really loved it and have been pushing for it, so we thought why not!"
The wedding planning is now in full swing. Haskett says it will be a sustainable event and their miniature goat named Queen Victoria will be the flower girl for the ceremony.
The wedding will be an invite only event because they don't want to overwhelm the animals with too many people. Haskett says those who are Inner Herd Members (people who have visited Udderly Ridiculous two or more times) will receive the first invites, and any extras will be posted on their social media pages.
Haskett is hoping to livestream it for those who can't be there in person. They will also have a professional photographer on site and they will be posting pictures and videos on their social media pages afterward.
For those who do attend the wedding, Haskett says they should be warned, because there is a chance that Muriel and Rhett might not wait until the honeymoon.
"There might be two cows that are going to consummate, so just a warning because might not be G rated at some point in the evening. They don't care if people are watching!"
