"To put the potency of Fentanyl into context, if you cut a baby aspirin into 324 pieces, one of those pieces would equal a lethal dose."
COUNTY OF BRANT - Brant County OPP reminding everyone to be cautious of what you are putting into your body.
Back in September, officers stopped a vehicle on the 403 and found what they thought was Percocet pills. The pills were recently analyzed by Health Canada and they actually turned out to be Fentanyl. It is the belief of the investigators that these pills were destined for illicit distribution.
The OPP is reminding the public that anytime you buy drugs on the street you can never be certain of what it contains. Fentanyl is 50-100 times more potent than morphine and 30-50 times more potent than heroin. Just 0.25mg can kill an adult. Detachment Commander Lisa Anderson says people don't realize how dangerous Fentanyl is.
"To put the potency of Fentanyl into context, if you cut a baby aspirin into 324 pieces, one of those pieces would equal a lethal dose. Public safety of our community is our priority. If you choose to purchase illicit street drugs you need to be aware of this safety issue."
