Oxford OPP want drivers to be extra cautious when hitting the roads on a snowy day.
OXFORD COUNTY - With all of the snow we have been getting lately Oxford OPP want drivers out there to be extra cautious when hitting the roads.
OPP have responded to 15 car accidents in the county between Boxing Day and yesterday morning. That doesn't include the multi vehicle accident on the 401 near Sweaburg last Saturday.
Sergeant David Rektor says you should adjust your driving accordingly to the weather.
"The secret to winter driving is very simple, it's just drive slow. If you see snow go slow, leave distance between vehicles, make sure your vehicle is well equipped for winter driving and you should be fine."
Rektor encourages drivers to have winter tires installed, in order to have more control on snow covered roads.
Rektor says you can't blame a collision on the weather.
"It's driver error that is the cause. Its people driving too fast for road and weather conditions and inexperienced drivers driving in winter like conditions so it's all preventable."
